The journey to recognition, the optometry profession enjoys today was arduous, tortuous and daunting. Notwithstanding the early moves in the 60’s by our founding fathers, the profession in the 70’s and 80’s was dominated, where it existed; by quacks and un-vetted quasi professionals. This was in the form of organized outfits with especially practitioners of Indian descent (qualified and otherwise)
